Michael Turner
There are many reasons I think people could disagree with signing of Michael Turner by the Atlanta Falcons. History has shown us that productive backups don't translate to starters in the NFL. There were also a couple games where Ladainian Tomlinson was sidelined and Turner didn't quite step up to carry the load, notably the playoff loss to New England. There is also the question of whether the Falcons should use the #3 pick in the draft to take Darren Mcfadden the consensus best player in the draft. Mcfadden being from the SEC would give the Falcons a noteworthy player who would bring talent and ticket sales. I think the Turner signing is a good thing for the team because after watching Turner play for the last three years I believe he can translate his ability to being an every down back. He has a very strong frame to bust through the line and when he hits the holes in the offensive line has a second gear the rivals anyone in the NFL. They don't call him "Turner the Burner" for nothing. Now the Falcons can use the 3rd pick to take Matt Ryan from Boston College, the best QB in the draft at this point. This will give the Falcons a sturdy every down back and their quarterback of the future. They can also sidestep the possiblity of any off-the-field troubles that could come along with the D-mac pick which Arthur Blank can ill afford to relive after the Michael Vick fiasco. I say a positive step for the future for a franchise that is in shambles at this point in time.
