Free Agency: Money Talks

The first big name to sign a free agent contract in the NFL this off-season is Pro-Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel.  The 5-year veteran inked a 6-year contract that could possibly be worth $54 million with the Philadelphia Eagles. Samuel will with out a doubt upgrade an already impressive Philadelphia secondary.

I have just one question for the Asante, why would you sign with the last place team in the NFC east?  Guess what, he answered my question.  "I just want a chance to be able to win and get back to the Super Bowl," Samuel said. "That's why I picked Philadelphia.”  I smell something, and it’s the stuff that comes out of the backside of bull.  Sam-Man, let me get this straight, you left the team with the best chance of winning a Super Bowl to play for those dirty, stinking birds?  That bag full of money must have hit him in the head and prompted him to make stupid remarks.

I am not a dumb ass, I know that as a newly signed free agent you are suppose say something nice about the team that just gave you $54 million.  However, don’t say something that you, I, and the rest of football (except the city of brotherly boos) know is not going to happen. Next time Mr. Samuel, so that you don’t sound like an idiot just say how happy you are to join your new team and you look forward to the season (and making your money).

  1. Give me $54MM and I'll gladly tell the world how the sun sets to the east every day.  A pro football player's credibility rates up there squeezed between a local politician and personal injury lawyer.
