I am very sorry everyone, it has been a while since I have last checked in. Finals, military duty, and just a busy week have kept me away for I while. Okay, enough about that, I have a few quick hitting topics to bring up.
March Madness- It has officially began. I actually thought it began with the wild finishes in the Pac-10 regular season in the UCLA vs. Cal game last Saturday and USC wiping the floor with Stanford that same day. This past Monday the University of San Diego Toreros defeated the #22 Gonzaga Bulldogs in a rather large upset for a bid to the NCAA tournament and for the WCC conference tournament title. I will be rooting for USD they seem like a Mid-Major team with a small run in them. With all that said, the four #1 seeds are locked in my book with UNC, UCLA, Memphis, Tennessee, in that order. It should be a fun one!
John Daly- I don’t want the to say the man has fallen fast because I think he fell a while ago and kind of stayed there. Well… his golf game fell but the big fat John everyone has come to known is actually still the same. John is the Happy Gilmore of the real PGA because the bottom line is, John is a hack on the links but has a huge drive that people really like to watch. John is still a draw for the PGA tour that’s why he is still around. All that being said, the man is an addict. Whether it’s booze, cigarettes, slutty women, fatty foods or any other vice, he does not know how to limit himself. John needs help so he can get back on the course because I like watching him play. It’s like a watching a regular Joe with an attitude playing against pros he’s awesome. So… John, GET SOME HELP!!!
Billy Crystal- Everyone knows by now that for his 60th birthday Billy Crystal signed a 1-day contract with the New York Yankees so he could play in a Spring Training game. Not that I was expecting too much from the 60 year old, but Billy sort of showed me something. He hit the first pitch for a line drive just foul down the 1st base side, then took 3 balls to make the count 3-1. Billy then swung and missed on the next two pitches that looked to me like hard sliders to the inside part of the plate close to the right-handed hitter’s hands. The fact the Paul Maholm had to throw two tough major league pitchs to Crystal in order to get him out is what stood out to me. So, props to Billy Crystal and I am happy you got to live out a childhood dream of playing for the Yankees.
